America's Department of Justice is set to file an antitrust lawsuit against technology giant Google, alleging that it has been abusing its dominance in online search to stifle competition, resulting in harm to consumers.

The Associated Press cited a person familiar matter as its source.

If correct, it would mark the biggest antitrust case against a US tech giant since the lawsuit brought against Microsoft over 20 years before.

It could also presage similar actions by the DoJ and the Federal Trade Commission against other tech giants, including Apple, Amazon and Facebook.
