Chinese drone manufacturer Ehang has produced a drone capable of carrying a passenger.

The company said the Ehang 184, which was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, is designed for medium to short distance travelling and is completely controlled using a tablet in the cockpit.

The drone takes between two and four hours to charge, and can fly for 23 minutes at an altitude of up to 500m.

The eight propeller drone also has an average speed of 100km/h and is rated to carry someone weighing up to 100kg.

However it still has to pass a number of regulatory hurdles.

Mashable reported the company is in contact with the FAA in the US, and has already met with officials in Los Angeles, California, China and New Zealand, with the latter interested in experimental tests.
