Issa Brothers set to take over US chain Sprint Foods
The Issa brothers are set to expand their United States footprint, it emerged on Wednesday, with their EG Group petrol station business said to be “close” to a deal to take over Sprint Food Stores.
Sky News said a deal could be completed by the billionaire siblings within days, which would see 34 convenience stores added to their portfolio.
It would see EG Group have a presence in 33 states across the US.
The news comes a fortnight after Zuber and Mohsin Issa canned plans to spend £750m on Asda’s forecourt business, after the Competition and Markets Authority removed restrictions on financial disclosures.
Those restrictions were in place until the regulator gave Walmart’s sale of Asda to a consortium consisting of the Issas and TDR Capital the go-ahead.
