Professional networking site LinkedIn said on Tuesday that it would cut about 960 jobs, or 6% of its global workforce.

The Microsoft owned site said that the coronavirus pandemic is having a sustained impact on demand for its recruitment products, forcing its hand on layoffs.

Jobs will be cut across the sales and hiring divisions of the group globally.

Chief Executive Ryan Roslansky said the company was not planning more layoffs and would provide at least 10 weeks of severance pay and health insurance for a year for US employees who had to be let go.

Lockdowns around the world due to the Covid-19 pandemic had caused companies to cut hiring and in turn negatively impacted LinkedIn’s business.
