Food manufacturer Nestle is not ruling out a departure from Switzerland, its chief executive revealed over the weekend.

In an interview with newspaper Neue Zuercher Zeitung, Paul Bulke said if the restrictions on immigration and pay limited its staffing options, the company may decide to leave the country.

"Should it become difficult to bring specialists into the country, then we will have to go somewhere, where this flexibility still exists," he said.

In terms of growth, the company will continue to target between 5% and 6%.

"Within a weak economic environment, at 5%, we've grown better than the market," Bulke pointed out.

"If we were to revise the goal downward, then [our results] would certainly also move down."

He added that the important thing is "that we grow faster than the others and outperform them through our strong innovation".

"That's what we strive for."
