Pamplona Capital to acquire MedAssets for $2.7bn

Pamplona Capital Management announced it would acquire health care consultant MedAssets for $2.7bn in cash.

The $31.35 per share transaction price equates to a 44.5% premium over the shares´ 30-day volume-weighted average price.

The buy-out was expected to close in the first quarter of 2016.

Pamplona was planning to merge MedAssets´s Revenue Cycle Management unit with its Precyse business and sell the Spend and Clinical Management arm to VHA-UHC Alliance.

As of 15:57 shares in MedAssets were changing hands 29.86% above Friday´s close, at $30.76.
