Pfizer to research using mRNA technology against other viruses

Pfizer will strike out on its own to develop vaccines against viruses other than SARS-CoV-2 using the the same mRNA technology used against the novel coronavirus.

Its Covid-19 shot was developed alongside Germany's BioNTech, one of the earliest pioneers of the technology, which researchers believe likely has applications and uses far beyond the novel coronavirus.

The company's plans were disclosed by Pfizer boss, Albert Bourla, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

Bourla reportedly did not disclose which specific viruses Pfizer would target.
