Yahoo is planning to cut at least 10% of its staff as part of a plan to get the troubled company back on track, Business Insider reported.

The layoffs would see over 1,000 employees packing up their desks, and sources told the website that it could begin as early as this month.

It’s believed while it is expected to hit all parts of the company, its media business, European operations, and platforms-technology group are expected to be the worst affected.

"A team is working on it and they want to do it this quarter," a source told Business Insider.

Yahoo, which told the publication earlier this week that the company will announce "additional plans for a more focused Yahoo on or before our Q4 earnings call”, declined to comment on the restructure.

It follows a plan to turn around the company over three years failed, with calls for it to cut its workforce to just 3,000 people, as well as others calling for CEO Marissa Mayer to leave.
