Budget airline Ryanair will shut its base at Frankfurt Hahn airport after the company's German pilots voted in favour of rejecting pay cuts.

Ryanair, which also warned that its bases at Berlin Tegel and Dusseldorf airports were at risk of closing before the end of the summer, said on Tuesday that it was forced to "move on with alternative measures to deliver savings", which would "regrettably" mean base closures and dismissals.

The carrier's UK pilots and cabin crew have already opted to accept pay cuts as part of an effort to reduce job losses after the firm announced that it would slash 3,000 jobs across Europe in May.

As of 1600 BST, Ryanair shares were up 0.63% at €11.13 each.
