Marc Benioff, chief executive officer of Salesforce.com, has hit out at executives at Microsoft for being "anti-competitive" in its acquisition of social network LinkedIn.

He has raised concerns that the purchase will allow Microsoft to deny its rivals access to data necessary for other businesses.

Earlier this year, Microsoft bought the professional network in a deal worth $26.2bn.

Benioff pointed out in the interview on CNBC that he maintains a good relationship with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, but other executives have stepped over the line.

"I'm cool with Satya for sure, but some of his executives however, I am not cool with because they have made some very aggressive statements about what they are going to be doing with this LinkedIn data," Benioff said.

"It's amazing what they have said. And they are doing things that are absolutely anti-competitive, and that's what I wrote on Twitter."

Salesforce has been rumoured to be interested in the possible purchase of another social media site, Twitter, but will most likely face competition for the bid.
