Sony announced on Friday it would be pulling CD Projekt's much-hyped Cyberpunk 2077 computer game from the PlayStation Store after customers complained about glitches and compatibility issues.

Sony is also offering customers a full refund if they already bought the game. CD Projekt shares have slumped this week, down 30% since the game's release, amid fury from disappointed fans, as well as industry reviewers who complained they had limited access to the title before the launch earlier this month.

CD Projekt said it was working hard to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back to the PlayStation Store as soon as possible and pledged to fix the bugs through updates.

“Both digital and physical copies of the game will be continuously supported by and will receive future updates from the company," it said.

The problems for CD Projekt started after reports of the game being more or less unplayable on base PS4, Xbox One and One S consoles. The developer earlier this week offered refunds.

"Sony Interactive Entertainment strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, therefore we will begin to offer a full refund for all gamers who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 via PlayStation Store," Sony said in a statement, adding that the game would be removed "until further notice".

The game is based on life in a criminal world where players can upgrade their bodies with technology. It features an appearance by Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves.
