Tensions between the founders of Space X and Blue Origin were running as high on Tuesday as the two companies' orbital rockets.

The day before, Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin filed a protest with NASA over the agency's recent decision to award Elon Musks's Space X the moon landing contract.

Blue Origin alleged the agency had moved the goalposts for contract bidders at the last minute.

That prompted derision from Musk who replied via Twitter saying

"Can't get it up (to orbit) lol."

The two billionaires' feud in their race to develop launch vehicles and spacecraft was not new however.

But the moon landing contract to build a spaceship to take astronauts to the moon as early as 2024 was especially coveted by both.

Blue Origin had also already fallen far behind SpaceX and the United Launch Alliance (ULA) on orbital transportation, losing out on billions of dollars' worth of US national security launch contracts that begin in 2022.
