Electric car giant Tesla is recalling more than 23,000 Cybertrucks due to potential issues with their windshield wipers and trunk bed trims.

According to a statement from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued Monday but dated 19 June, 11,688 Cybertrucks are being recalled due to the risk of failure of the front windshield wiper.

The government agency said an "excessive electrical current" can cause the wiper motor controller to stop working, which could reduce visibility and increase crash risk.

The NHTSA also said a further 11,383 vehicles are being recalled as the trunk bed trim sail applique may have been improperly adhered and can loosen. If that detaches, it would create a road hazard for following motorists.

Tesla, which started deliveries of the Cybertruck in November 2023, said they will replace the wiper motors and remedy the trunk bed trim adhesion issue free of charge.

Despite the news, Tesla's shares were up 1.8% at $185.94 by 1124 in New York.
