Chinese government said to have intervened to boost stock market

China’s government has reportedly intervened to boost the equity market on Thursday, stepping in to buy blue-chip stocks.

Bloomberg cited people familiar with the matter as saying that authorities wanted the market to stabilise ahead of a military parade on 3 September celebrating World War II victory over Japan.
