Eurozone construction output inches higher

Construction output in the eurozone rose marginally in March while the previous month's increase was revised significantly lower, according to figures released on Tuesday by Eurostat.

Production in construction rose by just 0.1% month-on-month across the single-currency region in March, after a revised 0.4% increase in February, revised down from the initial estimate of 1.8%.

Compared with March 2023, output was up 0.1%, while February's 0.4% annual decline was revised down to -1.8%.

According to Eurostat, the output of building construction fell by 1.5% during the month, but increased 0.6% for civil engineering and rose 0.6% for specialised construction activities.

The largest monthly decreases in production were recorded in Slovakia (-7.6%) and Slovenia (-7.4%), while the highest increases were seen in France (+1.1%), Belgium and Germany (both +1.0%).
