FDA may be set to announce booster shots for immunocompromised

America's health regulator is close to recommending that so-called booster shots be given to certain people with weak immune systems.
The US Food and Drug Administration may announce the decision as early as Thursday or on the following day, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Whether people needed an extra jab or not to defend against new variants of Covid-19, or because the effectiveness of the various shots might wane over time, remained a matter of debate among experts.
Nevertheless, there appeared to be a growing consensus globally regarding the need to administer an extra dose to at least immunocompromised people.
