German factory orders post better-than-expected jump in May
German manufacturing orders rose more than expected in May, driven by demand for vehicles, official data showed on Thursday.
Manufacturing orders rose 6.4% in May from April and compared with expectations of 1.2% increase.
Car production orders were up 8.6% month on month. In the "other vehicles" category, which covers ships and trains, orders increased 137%.
Growth in the previous month was also revised up to a 0.2% expansion from a preliminary estimate of a 0.4% contraction.
