German unemployment declined more than expected in October, figures released on Thursday showed.
According to the Federal Labour Agency, the number of unemployed people in the Eurozone’s largest economy declined by 5,000 to 2.78m this month, compared with analysts’ expectations for a 4,000 decline.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6.4%, the lowest level since German reunification.
“The favourable development in the labour market continues,” said Frank-Juergen Weise, the president of Germany’s labour agency.
“Robust growth in employment is uninterrupted.
“Labour demand has also increased again.”
