The number of job openings and of voluntary separations in the US, or so-called 'quits', fell in April, as the Cobid-19 pandemic rolled across the country and job insecurity soared.

According to the Department of Labor, the number of job openings fell from 6.011m in March to 5.046m and that of voluntary separations from 2.789m to 1.786m.

The rate of increase in the latter fell from the 2.3% observed in February to 1.8% for March and 1.4% in April.

The number of total separations meanwhile declined from 14.643m to 9.88m.
