Republican lawmakers walked out of negotiations to raise the government debt ceiling at a closed door meeting at the White House.

The lead negotiator for the republican party, Garret Graves, reportedly said that democrats were being "just unreasonable" and that talks were now paused.

Graves, the Republican representative for the State of Louisiana, added that he did not know if the talks would resume later on Friday nor over the weekend.

Stocks on Wall Street slumped immediately following the news while 10-year Treasury yields reversed course and fell as investors sought out their relative safety.
