Russian ruble hits record low versus dollar

The Russian ruble weakened to a record low versus the greenback on Wednesday, amid a renewed slide in crude oil prices.

As of 11:13GMT the US dollar was 1.90% stronger against the ruble to 80.23.

Front month Brent crude futures were down 2.2% to $28.14 per barrel in ICE trading.

West Texas Intermediate futures were off by 2.78% to $28.77 per barrel over on the NYMEX.

Euro/dollar on the other hand was up by 0.09% on the day to 1.0917, possibly as traders waited on the European Central Bank’s policy decision tomorrow.
