An interest rate-hike might be on the table for when the US Federal Open Market Committee's members meet in September, a top US central bank official said.

In remarks to Fox Business News New York Federal Reserve president William Dudley reportedly added that it was too soon to assess the impact from Brexit.

“We’re edging closer towards the point in time where it will be appropriate I think to raise interest rates further,” Dudley told the broadcaster.

Hence, an interest rate increase in September was "possible".

“The labor market is getting target. We’re starting to see signs of wage gains starting to accelerate," he said.

“The one area that looks a little stretched to me is the bond market.

“I don’t think the election would weigh on us one way or the other.”
