Spanish retail sales grow more quickly than expected in September

Spanish retail sales accelerated more quickly than expected in September.

In seasonally adjusted terms, retail sales grew by 0.4% month-on-month in September, according to INE, lifting the year-on-year rate of gains to 2.1%.

Economists had projected a rise of 1.9% when compared with the same month one year ago, led by sales of personal goods (6.3%) and household goods (3.5%).

Excluding gasoline stations, sales advanced by 2.5%.
