Trump defends Biden after Kim Jong-un calls him a 'rabid dog'

America's President defended his potential Democratic party rival after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un called him a ‘rabid dog’ that should be “beaten to death” with a stick.

According to the official KCNA news agency, Kim Jong-un said that “rabid dogs like Biden can hurt lots of people if they are allowed to run about. They must be beaten to death with a stick.”

North Korea's dictator made the remarks after Biden condemned Trump's foreign policy in a campaign ad which said that “dictators and tyrants are praised, our allies pushed aside”. North Korea reportedly felt aggravated by this statement.

On 15 November, North Korea had accused Biden of having “the temerity to dare slander the dignity of the supreme leadership”, although the regime did not specify what he had said to provoke its angry response.

Trump tweeted in defence of Biden saying that he “may be sleepy and very slow, but he is not a ‘rabid dog.’ He is actually somewhat better than that.”

After defending Biden, Trump referred to negotiations between Pyongang and Washington to halt North Korea's nuclear weapons program, telling Kim "I am the only one who can get you where you have to be. You should act quickly, get the deal done. See you soon!"

No new summit had been scheduled between Trump and Kim after nuclear talks in Sweden broke down in October, although on 14 November, North Korea claimed that Washington had offered to restart negotiations in December.
