One of the highest-ranking US central bank officials argued for caution when deciding on the pace of interest rate hikes.
In remarks at the Park Cities Rotary Club in Dallas, Texas, regional Fed president Robert Kaplan reportedly said the Federal Reserve should be "very careful" about raising rates.
It should be done patiently and carefully he said.
Kaplan also argued again in favour immigration reform, continuing trade with Mexico and increased global integration.
All of those were ways to help offset slower economic growth in the US.
