Factory production in the States accelerated to its fastest since early 2015, as strong domestic demand helped to offset subdued sales overseas.

IHS MarkitĀ“s headline purchasing managersĀ“ index rose from 53.4 in October to 53.9 for November, ahead of the 53.5 forecast by economists.

Increased levels of output were supported by a continuing rebound in order volumes, alongside "moderate" increases in staffing levels and another "robust" increase in purchasing activity, according to the survey compiler.

A gauge of new orders rose at its steepest rate since October 2015.

Production volumes increased for a sixth consecutive month to their strongest since March 2015.

As of 1503 GMT the yield on the benchmark 10-year bond was up by six basis points to 2.38%.
