US job opening decline further in March

The number of job opening continued to decline in March alongside a decrease in the number of Americans choosing to change employment.

According to the US Department of Labor, in seasonally adjusted terms, job openings fell at a month-on-month pace of 3.9% in March to reach 9.59m.

Voluntary separations or so-called 'quits' fell by 3.2% over the month to reach 3.851m.

That pushed the quits rate down by a tenth of a percentage point from the month before to 2.5%.

Hiring on the other hand was roughly steady at 6.149m.
