US job openings decline in October

US job openings fell short of expectations in October, data released on Tuesday showed.

According to figures released by the Labor Department, job openings fell from 5.53m in September to 5.38m in October, falling short of analysts’ expectations for a 5.54m reading.

However, despite the decline in job openings, hiring rose from 5.08m in September to 5.14m in June, while the number of people quitting their jobs rose from 2.77m to 2.78m.
