US manufacturing PMI unexpectedly revised down, Markit reveals

The US manufacturing purchasing managers’ index was unexpectedly revised down to 55.9 in October from 56.2 initial estimate, Markit revealed.

The index fell from September’s reading of 57.5 but remained above the 50 level that signals expansion.

It came ahead of ISM’s report on manufacturing which is expected to fall to 56.2 in October from 56.6 a month earlier.
