White House set to move ahead with tariffs on Chinese goods

The US may levy tariffs on tens of billions of dollars-worth of Chinese-made goods over the next week, perhaps as soon as Friday.

According to the Journal, senior trade officials in the White House, Commerce and Treasury departments, together with the office of the US Trade Representative, discussed the matter a week ago, before the US President travelled to the G-7 summit in Quebec.
