Japanese brewer Asahi is in the frame to make a £2.4bn bid for the Grolsch and Peroni brands about to be offloaded by Anheuser-Busch InBev, the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper reported on Saturday without citing sources.

The two popular lager brands are being sold as part of Anheuser-Busch InBev's takeover of SAB Miller in a £68bn deal. AB InBev hopes to get over any regulatory obstacles by selling off the assets.
