WPP has acquired US mobile app developer ArcTouch Inc, which has developed smartphone and tablet computer apps for the likes of Audi, CBS, Yahoo and Saleforce.

ArcTouch, which has offices in San Francisco and Florianopolis, Brazil, will become part of WPP's Grey marketing communications agency. The deal was completed for an undisclosed sum.

The firm, which designs apps for telephones, tablets, wearable devices, televisions, homes and cars, made gross revenues of roughly $14m in calendar 2015.

ArcTouch has completed over 250 projects for Fortune 500 companies, leading consumer brands, innovative startups, media and entertainment companies and world-class marketing and design agencies.

"This acquisition continues WPP's strategy of investing in important markets and fast growing sectors such as mobile and digital," the FTSE 100 giant said.

Digital revenues represent around 36% of WPP's total revenues, with boss Sir Martin Sorrell setting a target of 40-45% for the next five years.
