London airspace reopened but air traffic was restricted after a computer failure at the air traffic control centre in Swanwick, according to National Air Traffic Services (NATS).

Earlier, Eurocontrol said the city's airspace would remained closed until 19:00 UTC due to a technical glitch at Swanwick, which covers Atlantic approaches.

“We apologise for any delays and our incident response team has been mobilised,” NATS said in a statement. “Every possible action is being taken to assist in resolving the situation and to confirm the details.”

Hundreds of planes were clustering around Heathrow awaiting further updates.
