Spending on commercial property in London more than halved in 2016, according to data published on Thursday.

Some £17.2bn was spent on commercial property in the capital this year, Real Capital Analytics found in its analysis for the Evening Standard, which was down 56% on the £38.9bn outlay in 2015.

Real Capital, which said it was the lowest level property deals in London since 2010, also revealed that investors from Hong Kong had spent the most, forking out £1.7bn with more than half coming since the weakening of the pound post the Brexit vote.

Property investments from China and Singapore sources have both totalled roughly £1.1bn.
