The pressure is mounting from all sides for Prime Minister David Cameron ahead of his announcement on the government's decision on whether it will give the go ahead with a third runway at Heathrow.
A letter signed by 30 members of the Conservative party, seen by the Telegraph, called on the Prime Minister to "press ahead" with the expansion.
It said connections with the major London airport were "vital to our country's economic growth and prosperity".
However, Boris Johnson, who is the MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, described the third runway as "a sham and a delusion" that "will never happen".
Richmond MP and Tory London Mayoral candidate Zac Goldsmith has already said he will step down if Cameron decides to increase capacity at the South West london airport.
International Development Secretary Justine Greening told the publication that while she thinks resigning from her position was "jumping the gun", she would "make sure that I continue to represent my constituents’ concern on this".
Earlier this year, the Airports Commission gave its recommendation for expanding Heathrow, although it didn't rule rival Gatwick out altogether.
