UK can block migrant child benefit payments, EU court rules

Britain can block the payment of child benefit and tax credits to some EU migrants, the European Court of Justice ruled on Tuesday.
The court ruled the benefits could be withheld from those migrants who did not have the right to reside in the UK. The case had been brought by the European Commission.
Blocking such benefits was a key part of UK Prime Minister David Cameron's (pictured) renegotiation on the terms of Britain's EU membership.
The UK votes on whether to stay in or leave the 28-nation block on 23 June.
