UK construction output falls in October

UK construction figures revealed a fall in output of 0.6% in October against expectations of a small rise, according to official figures released on Friday.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the fall compared with a 0.9% rise in September.

Year on year, output was up 0.7%.

All new work month on month decreased by 0.9%, with the largest downward contribution coming from infrastructure, while all repair and maintenance showed no growth, the ONS said.

All new work increased by 2.9% year-on-year with repair and maintenance falling by 3.2%. Within all new work total new housing was the biggest upwards contribution with an increase of 12.6%.
