Growth figures for 2011 to 2013 are set to get a significant upwards revision this week when the Office for National Statistics (ONS) releases its quarterly report.
Wednesday's figures are expected to show that growth of 2.2% in 2013, compared to previous estimates of 1.7%, while the previous year is set to be revised from 0.7% to 1.2%.
Growth in 2011 will be revealed at 2%, compared to the 1.6% it was thought to have increased, the Sunday Times reported.
Data for last year is also expected to be revised upwards.
The figures would be welcome news for the chancellor as it would reduce the pressure he is under to cut spending.
The second quarter reading is set to be confirmed at 0.7%.
