Inflation expectations in the UK slipped in September, the latest reading on a widely-followed gauge revealed.

Looking out over the next 12 months, expectations for the rate of change in consumer prices slipped from 1.8% in August to 1.7%, according to a survey from Citi/YouGov.

"Renewed weakness in fuel prices over the summer may well have contributed to the decline," Citi said.

Expectations for price changes when looking five to 10 years out were unchanged at 2.6%.

As of 1604 BST the yield on the benchmark 10-year Gilt was edging higher by two basis points to 0.73%.
