This weekend's tube strike has been called off by the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union.

London Underground began informing passengers over loudspeaker systems at tube stations it had been suspended, as well as tweeting that services would run as normal.

Union members were being told by RMT to turn up for work as normal.

The strike was “suspended” after the RMT said it has received a revised offer, which related to rosters, short notice change of cover duties and ticket machine training.

The union said while it is still concerned about Transport for London's Fit for the Future Stations programme, it considers the dispute resolved.

RMT members were due to strike from 9pm on Saturday for 48 hours over the issue of station staffing in the programme.

If it went ahead, Transport for London said some tube stations may open late, close early or may not open at all.

It would have been the first in a series of strikes planned by RMT, with strikes by maintenance workers set for later this month.
