3i Group has promoted Jasi Halai, currently group financial controller, to the role of chief operating officer with effect from May next year.

Halai joined the company in 2005 and has held a variety of posts.

Chairman David Hutchison said: "We are delighted to announce Jasi's promotion to the board as chief operating officer. She has played an important group role for a number of years managing the group's central financial operations and we look forward to her contribution to the board over the coming years."

Chief executive Simon Borrows said: "As well as continuing her role managing the group's central finance and operations functions she will also take on responsibility for the group's IT, property and procurement activities. Jasi will work closely with James Hatchley when he succeeds Julia Wilson as group finance director in May next year."
