Acacia Mining said it had resumed gold exports from its North Mara mine after receiving permits from the Tanzanian government, but warned a processing was still in place.

The UK-listed company said on Friday it would be will be able to meet its financial obligations “for an extended period of time” after the sale of stockpiled gold from North Mara.

Acacia, which is being taken over by majority shareholder Barrick Gold, was forced to stop exports in a dispute with government which claimed it owed $190bn in unpaid taxes.

A ban on the use of its tailings facility was imposed in July over allegations that waste ore was contaminating the local water supply.
