Advance Frontier Markets Fund chairman steps down

Advance Frontier Markets Fund board member Grant Wilson has retired as director and chairman of the company with effect from Tuesday.

Confirming the move to the London Stock Exchange, the Guernsey-based closed ended investment firm, said John Whittle, a director since 1 February 2012, has been appointed chairman of the company with immediate effect.

AFMF is currently attempting to change its corporate name to Aberdeen Frontier Markets. An extraordinary general meeting (EGM) has been scheduled for 14 April for shareholders to consider and, if thought fit, approve the change of the company's name.

Explaining the move, AFMF said, “The board considers that this separation from the 'Advance' name and the proposed change to a name associated with Aberdeen will allow the company to benefit both from the rebranding of the manager and from Aberdeen's reputation for the management of emerging and frontier markets investments and of listed investment companies.”
