Alien Metals has promoted technical director Bill Brodie Good to chief executive of the minerals exploration and development company.

The AIM-traded company said Brodie Good, a director since July 2019, had been heavily involved with its technical and corporate activities. It said he had effectively been working as the CEO before his formal appointment.

Chairman Dan Smith said: "I have been working closely with Bill now for over a year and I have been impressed with his commitment and focus to help drive the company forward."

Brodie Good joined Alien when Peter Taylor stepped down as CEO. He has worked in minerals exploration in more than 40 countries and has held jobs at a series of companies including Rio Tinto.

Alien also said it had granted options over common shares of the company to directors under the terms of its share option plan. The shares were worth 0.41p each on 28 August.

Brodie Good will receive three batches of 15m shares. The first tranche will be exercisable six months from issue at 0.45p with the second and third tranches at 0.5p and 0.55p 12 months from issue. The shares must be exercised within three years of issue.

Non-executives James Cable and Mark Culbert were also awarded options. In total the number of share options awarded was 60m, representing 2.53% of the company's share capital.

Alien shares rose 32% to 0.55p at 12:25 BST.
