Amec Foster Wheeler has started work on an engineering, procurement and construction contract for Louisville Gas and Electric Company (LG&E) and Kentucky Utilities Company (KU) for a treatment project in Trimble County, Kentucky.

The FTSE 250 oil and gas services company, for which this is the fourth project with LG&E and KU, said completion was due in 2018.

The project will transition Trimble County generating station's coal combustion residuals processing from a wet system to a closed pipe dry conveyor system to convey bulk materials.

Tom Dodson, Power & Process Americas president at Foster Wheeler said: "We are delighted that LG&E and KU have selected us to help them further reduce their environmental impact and comply with federal regulations. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with them."
