Amec selected for CCS multi-year framework
Amec Foster Wheeler has been appointed by the UK government's Crown Commercial Services to its £2.9bn project management and full design services framework.
The framework, which kicks off this month for up to four years, has been established as part of CCS’ drive to help the UK public sector achieve hundreds of millions of pounds of savings on procuring common goods and services.
Amec said the appointment puts it at the heart of the government’s construction strategy as this framework was identified as one of its major procurement vehicles. The company has secured a position on three of the framework’s principal workscopes, covering multi-disciplinary consultancy, design consultancy and civil and structural engineering consultancy services.
Ann Massey, president of Environment and Infrastructure, said: "Securing a position on this framework was a key priority for our growth strategy, building on our heritage of delivering capital programmes throughout the UK public sector. We are committed to supporting the government’s construction strategy, increasing opportunities for SMEs (small and medium enterprises) through our supply chain and working with the CCS in driving value through the efficient delivery of public sector projects and programmes."
At 0900 BST, the shares were down 1.3% to 498.10p.
