BG Group appoints new CEO one month early

Natural gas producer BG Group has brought forward the starting date of its new boss by one month, the company announced on Monday.

Helge Lund, who is joining the FTSE 100 company from Statoil, will start immediately as chief executive and an executive director.

The Norwegian was previously scheduled to begin his new role on 2 March.

“Mr Lund's start date has been brought forward following agreement last week from his former employer to release him from his contractual commitments,” the company said.

Andrew Gould, who has been working as interim executive chairman since April of last year, will now return to his role as non-executive chairman.
