Cairn India boss Mayank Ashar resigns

Cairn India said its managing director and chief executive (CEO), Mayank Ashar, has resigned, with chief financial officer Sudhir Mathur stepping in as acting CEO.

Ashar's resignation would be effective from 5 June, but he would provide transition support for Mathur out to 30 June.

Mathur would work closely with the leadership team in managing the business under the guidance of the board, the company said in a statement.

Cairn India is the petroleum-exploration arm of Vedanta Resources.
