Melvyn Morris, the chairman of Candy Crush-maker King Digital, has stepped down from his role.

Morris, who had previously taken leave of absence for “personal reasons”, was replaced by board member Gerhard Florin and his departure is the latest blow for the London-based firm.

King Digital has failed to convince shareholders that it can produce another game as popular as Candy Crush, which accounts for over 50% of the company’s revenue, and its shares have fallen 30% since its £4.8bn market debut on the New York Stock Exchange.

The firm recorded a 20% fall in profits in the three months to 30 September.
