Capita secures two-year extension to contract with Northern Ireland's Education Authority

Professional services company Capita has secured a two-year contract extension with Northern Ireland's Education Authority that will see it continue to deliver managed IT services for all of the nation's 1,100 schools.

Capita stated the contract extension, which was worth £50.6m, will run until 31 March 2024, with the group set to deliver local area networks, cloud services, service desk support, networked desktop, and portable devices, as well as digital learning services for pupils and teachers, digital school administration and management services and professional development resources for teachers.

The AIM-listed firm added that the contract extension built upon its successful 10-year relationship with the EA and followed on from the role the business played in enabling Northern Ireland's schools to adapt to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and manage the shift to online learning.

As of 0845 BST, Capita shares were up 0.71% at 21.21p.
